Why is filter maintenance so important?
With any pool system, regular filter maintenance is critical to the successful operation and condition of your pool. This is especially true with the Aquastaser.
The Aquastaser relies on water pressure from your pool pump, which must first pass through your filter. If your filter is clean and in good condition, your Aquastaser will receive sufficient water pressure which will allow the Aquastaser to successfully do its job of sanitizing your pool water.
If however, your pool filter has not been properly maintained and cleaned, the water pressure in your filter will be too high, which will not permit water to properly flow to the Aquastaser. This will also cause decreased water circulation in your pool.
We suggest that pool filters be cleaned or backwashed at least once a month, and sometimes more frequently in the hottest months of the year:
- Cartridge filters need to be removed and washed down (follow manufacturer directions)
- Sand and Diatomaceous Earth filters need to be backwashed (follow manufacturer directions)
PLEASE NOTE: After cleaning your filter you must purge or flush your filter away from the Aquastaser, before returning the flow of water to your pool. If you have installed a 3 Point Ball Valve in between your Aquastaser and the pool filter, your should turn the valve so that water can flush away from your system for at least 30 seconds, before returning the flow of water to the Aquastaser.
